sun dried toh-mah-tos

it's been days i haven't blogged and all i do is roam around blogger and leave comments without a trace. i have even come around blogs that are totally nasty. oh boy there are lots of them!!! and i leave a uniform comment like: "god will comment on this blog later"...and giggle off to another blog...

well, i got bored and nothin to do so i did some cooking. i learned that the secret of pizza is really not the mozarella. do you know what it is? it's that little herb called basil. without basil, pizza will not taste like pizza. and we've got lots of it growing like grass. it is also perfect with any tomato based dish.

so today i cooked this vegeroni pasta with herb and garlic and lots of sun dried tomatoes...tomatoes! tomatoes! i love tomatoes!!! say it with the italian twang and it is really fun...which brought me back to the story of the old italian farmer that goes...

once upon a long ago

an old Italian man lived alone in the country. He wanted to dig his tomato garden but it was a very hard work as the ground was dry. His only son, Vincenzo, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament.

Dear Vincenzo, I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I am getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the garden for me. Love, Papa

A few days later he received a letter from his son.

Dear Papa, I'd do anything for you Papa, except dig up that garden. That's where I buried the bodies. Love, Vinnie

At 4 am the next morning, FBI and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left. The same day the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Papa, Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances.

yeah yeah i know you've heard that story...just laugh with me and click comments, i serve hot coffee there.

Sheila, sheila, my filipina friend,

As you know, I am Italiano, and I never heard that joke before.

I loved it and I will tell it again...(in your honor).

Also, the secret to good pizza is not the basil. I am sorry to disagree with you.

Everyone knows the best pizza is in New York. I used to work in NYC and the secret to good pizza is the water in Brooklyn, which translates to great pizza dough.

Try it...you'll like it!

Love ya,

Tracy

(I love you blog so much. It makes me smile)
